Description

Ambrosia Salad is a classic fruit salad that combines a mix of tropical fruit, marshmallows, coconut, and nuts in a creamy dressing. This easy-to-make dish is perfect for potlucks, picnics, or as a refreshing dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit Salad Base:

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Fruit and Mix-ins:

  • 1 can (20 ounces) pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained and halved
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream, whipped topping, and powdered sugar until smooth. Gently fold in the pineapple, mandarin oranges, coconut, marshmallows, cherries, and nuts (if using).
  2. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld. Stir before serving and garnish with extra cherries or coconut if desired.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider incorporating vanilla extract or swapping sour cream for Greek yogurt.
  • Best served chilled.
