Description

Indulge in the warm flavors of fall with this delightful Apple Dapple Cake. Moist and packed with chunks of apples and nuts, this old-fashioned cake is topped with a luscious glaze for the perfect finishing touch.

Ingredients

Scale

For the cake:

  • 3 cups peeled and chopped apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

For the glaze:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp milk or heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 10-inch bundt or tube pan.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Add apples and nuts: Fold in the chopped apples and nuts if using.
  6. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 60–70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Make glaze: While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by combining brown sugar, butter, and milk in a saucepan. Cook until smooth.
  8. Glaze the cake: Once the cake is done, pour the warm glaze over the hot cake while it’s still in the pan.
  9. Cool and serve: Let the cake cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
