Description

Puff Pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

Apple Filling:

  • 2 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Vanilla Custard:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for custard)
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for custard)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Additional:

  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare Puff Pastry: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out puff pastry, cut into rectangles, bake until golden.
  2. Cook Apple Filling: Sauté apples with sugar and cinnamon until tender. Set aside to cool.
  3. Make Vanilla Custard: Heat milk, whisk egg yolks with sugar and cornstarch, combine and cook until thickened. Stir in butter and vanilla, chill.
  4. Assemble: Layer puff pastry, custard, and apples. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
