Ingredients
Scale
Baked French Toast Sticks:
- 1 loaf thick-cut Texas toast or brioche bread (about 8 slices)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
- butter or nonstick spray (for greasing)
- optional maple syrup or powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly grease with butter or nonstick spray.
- Cut the bread: Cut each slice of bread into 3 equal strips to form sticks.
- Prepare the egg mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
- Dip and bake: Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, and place them in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes, then flip each stick and bake an additional 10–12 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- Serve: Serve warm with maple syrup or dusted with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Use day-old bread for best texture—it holds up better when dipped.
- You can freeze leftovers and reheat in the oven or toaster oven for quick breakfasts.
