Description

These Baked French Toast Sticks are a delightful twist on a classic breakfast favorite. Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these sticks are easy to make and great for busy mornings or a special weekend treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Baked French Toast Sticks:

  • 1 loaf thick-cut Texas toast or brioche bread (about 8 slices)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • butter or nonstick spray (for greasing)
  • optional maple syrup or powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly grease with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. Cut the bread: Cut each slice of bread into 3 equal strips to form sticks.
  3. Prepare the egg mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
  4. Dip and bake: Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, and place them in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes, then flip each stick and bake an additional 10–12 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  5. Serve: Serve warm with maple syrup or dusted with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for best texture—it holds up better when dipped.
  • You can freeze leftovers and reheat in the oven or toaster oven for quick breakfasts.
