Description

Classic and moist banana bread recipe that is easy to make and perfect for breakfast, snack, or dessert. This delicious loaf is packed with ripe bananas and optional walnuts or chocolate chips for added texture and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Prepare wet mixture: In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine wet and dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Fold in the walnuts or chocolate chips if using.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and serve: Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • For extra moist banana bread, use overripe bananas with brown spots.
  • You can also substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour for a heartier loaf.
