For the Filling:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 medium carrot, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp olive oil
For the Assembly:
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cook the Filling: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, carrot, and potato, cook for 5-7 minutes until softened. Add ground beef, cook until browned. Stir in peas, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Cook for 3-4 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Assemble the Pasties: Roll out puff pastry sheets, cut each into 2 squares. Spoon filling onto one half of each square, fold pastry over, crimp edges with a fork to seal.
- Bake: Place pasties on baking sheet, brush with beaten egg. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or lamb for the beef.
- Add a pinch of chili flakes for extra heat or serve with ketchup or brown sauce on the side.
