Berry French Toast Casserole:
- 1 loaf (about 16 oz) day-old French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 ½ cups fresh or frozen mixed berries (such as blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries)
- 8 large eggs
- 2 ½ cups whole milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for greasing)

Instructions
- Grease the baking dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- Layer bread and berries: Place half of the bread cubes in the dish, add half of the mixed berries, then repeat with the remaining bread and berries.
- Prepare the egg mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour over the bread and berries.
- Chill and bake: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Bake for 45–50 minutes until set and golden. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup.
Notes
- You can substitute French bread with brioche or challah for a richer taste.
- If using frozen berries, no need to thaw them.
