For the Rolls:
- 1 cup warm whole milk (about 110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
For Brushing:
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let sit until foamy. Add remaining sugar, butter, egg, and salt. Mix well. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Shape and Bake: Divide dough, shape into rolls, place in a baking dish. Let rise again. Bake at 375°F for 15–18 minutes.
- Finish: Brush warm rolls with melted butter before serving.
Notes
- For extra richness, replace half the milk with heavy cream.
- You can prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate after shaping. Bring to room temperature before baking.
