Description

This Big Mac Hot Dogs recipe combines the flavors of a classic cheeseburger with the convenience of a hot dog, topped with a special sauce for a delicious twist on a summer favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Hot Dogs:

  • 4 beef hot dogs
  • 4 hot dog buns (preferably sesame seed)
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle slices (or chopped pickles)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup (optional)

For the Special Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • pinch of paprika

Instructions

  1. Make the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the special sauce and set aside.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with salt and pepper until browned and cooked through, breaking it into small crumbles. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Hot Dogs: Grill or pan-fry the hot dogs until heated through and slightly crisp on the outside. Lightly toast the hot dog buns, optionally sprinkling them with sesame seeds.
  4. Assemble the Hot Dogs: Spread a little special sauce inside each bun, place a hot dog in each, and top with cooked ground beef, shredded lettuce, diced onions, pickle slices, shredded cheddar cheese, and more special sauce. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, lightly brush the buns with butter before toasting.
  • You can also melt the cheese on top under the broiler for a warm, melty finish.
