Description

These Big Mac Tacos combine the iconic flavors of a classic Big Mac burger with the fun handheld format of a taco. Ground beef cooked thin and crispy on a tortilla, melted cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, pickles, and a tangy special sauce come together for a quick and delicious meal ready in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 8 ounces ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Tortacos and Cheese

  • 8 flour tortillas
  • 4–8 cheddar cheese slices

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 16 pickles

Special Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
  • ½ tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until the spices are evenly distributed throughout the beef.
  2. Portion the Meat: Divide the burger mixture into 4 equally sized balls for convenience and even cooking.
  3. Spread Meat on Tortillas: Spread each ground beef ball evenly over a tortilla, leaving some of the tortilla exposed around the edges. Season with salt or taco seasoning if desired.
  4. Make Special Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, pickle relish, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper until smooth. Set aside.
  5. Prepare the Workstation: Lay out the tortillas, cheese, sauce, lettuce, and toppings for easy and organized assembly.
  6. Cook the Meat on Skillet or Griddle: Preheat a large griddle or skillet over high heat. Place the meat-covered side of the tortilla down and firmly smash the beef with a spatula or burger press until thin and evenly spread. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the beef is browned and crispy.
  7. Flip and Add Cheese: Using a spatula or bench scraper, carefully flip the tortilla. Reduce heat to medium and immediately top each with cheddar cheese so it melts over the beef.
  8. Assemble the Tacos: Top each cheesy beef taco with shredded lettuce and pickles. Add your desired amount of the prepared special sauce and any other favorite toppings.
  9. Serve: Serve your Big Mac Tacos hot, arranged on a serving plate for immediate enjoyment.

Notes

  • Use fresh ground beef and avoid overworking the meat for tender results.
  • For extra flavor, you can add finely diced onions or a sprinkle of sesame seeds on the tortillas before cooking.
  • The special sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • If you want a lower-fat version, use reduced-fat mayonnaise and cheese.
  • Serve immediately after cooking as the tortillas can become soggy if left too long.
