Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen pitted cherries, halved
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F and prepare a 12-cup muffin tin with liners or grease.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry: Add wet mixture to dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in cherries.
  5. Prepare Topping: Mix brown sugar and 1/2 cup flour, then cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  6. Fill Muffin Cups: Divide batter into muffin cups and top with crumb mixture.
  7. Bake: Bake for 20–24 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before serving.

Notes

  • If using frozen cherries, do not thaw to avoid excess moisture in the batter.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored for up to 2 days in an airtight container.
