Description

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Chips:

  • 1 bag tortilla chips
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapenos
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Cook the Chili: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened.
  2. Add the kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Assemble the Chips: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange the tortilla chips on a baking sheet.
  4. Spoon the chili over the chips and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Top with sliced jalapenos.
  6. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped cilantro.
