Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the granola bars.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, cocoa powder, and salt thoroughly.
- Heat Wet Ingredients: In a small saucepan, gently heat the honey and almond butter together, stirring until both have melted and combined into a smooth liquid mixture.
- Combine Mixtures: Pour the warm honey and almond butter mixture over the dry oat mixture and stir well until all the dry ingredients are evenly coated.
- Add Mix-Ins: Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Press Into Pan: Grease a baking dish and firmly press the granola mixture into it, creating an even layer.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until the bars are set and slightly firm to the touch.
- Cool and Cut: Allow the granola bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into 12 bars for serving.
Notes
- Pressing the mixture firmly into the pan helps the bars hold together better after baking.
- You can substitute almond butter with peanut butter if preferred.
- Use dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor or mini chips for better distribution.
- Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
- For a nut-free version, omit nuts and add extra seeds such as pumpkin or sunflower seeds.
