Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake:

  • 1 box white cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box, typically egg whites, oil, and water)

For the Gelatin:

  • 1 (3 oz) box red gelatin (strawberry or cherry)
  • 1 (3 oz) box green gelatin (lime)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the White Cake: Follow the instructions on the package to make the white cake in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake and let cool for 15 minutes.
  2. Poke Holes: Use a wooden spoon handle or straw to poke holes all over the cake’s surface, about 1 inch apart.
  3. Prepare Gelatin: Dissolve red and green gelatin in separate bowls with boiling water, then add cold water to each.
  4. Add Gelatin: Spoon or pour red gelatin into half the holes and green gelatin into the remaining holes.
  5. Chill: Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours to set the gelatin.
  6. Add Topping: Spread whipped topping over the cake and decorate with sprinkles or crushed candies.
  7. Serve: Keep refrigerated until serving.
