Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups ketchup
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 4 drops hot sauce (such as Tabasco)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground pepper
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Combine ingredients: In a small saucepan, mix together ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, hot sauce, salt, ground pepper, and cayenne pepper until well blended.
- Simmer the sauce: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Cook to thicken: Let the sauce cook for 5 to 7 minutes. This will allow all the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken slightly for better consistency.
- Cool the sauce: Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the sauce to cool completely to room temperature before storing.
- Store properly: Transfer the cooled steak sauce into an airtight container and refrigerate. It will keep well for several weeks, ready to use with your favorite steak dishes.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of hot sauce and cayenne pepper to control the spiciness of the sauce.
- This sauce can also be used as a condiment for hamburgers or grilled chicken.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
- Stir the sauce before each use to recombine any separated ingredients.
