  • 12 oz egg noodles
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk

Sauce and Seasonings:

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Additional Ingredients:

  • 2 (5 oz) cans tuna (drained)
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup crushed buttery crackers or panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook noodles: Cook the egg noodles according to package directions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. Make sauce: In a large saucepan, melt butter, sauté onion, add garlic, sprinkle flour and make a roux. Whisk in milk until thickened, then add sour cream, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  4. Combine ingredients: Stir in tuna, peas, and cheddar cheese. Fold in cooked noodles.
  5. Prepare topping: Mix crushed crackers or panko with melted butter. Sprinkle over casserole along with Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake: Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
