Ingredients
Scale
Seafood Filling
- 1 cup shrimp, chopped
- 1 cup crab meat
- 1/2 cup cabbage, shredded
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
Wrappers and Frying
- 1 package egg roll wrappers (approximately 12-15 wrappers)
- Oil for frying (enough for deep frying, around 2-3 cups)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, crab meat, shredded cabbage, chopped green onions, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute all ingredients.
- Wrap the egg rolls: Lay one egg roll wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place about one spoonful of the seafood mixture in the center of the wrapper. Carefully fold the sides over the filling and roll tightly to enclose the mixture completely, sealing the edges to prevent filling from leaking during frying.
- Heat the oil: Pour oil into a deep pan or wok to a depth sufficient for deep frying (about 2 inches). Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches approximately 350°F (175°C). You can test by dropping a small piece of wrapper into the oil; if it sizzles and rises to the surface, the oil is ready.
- Fry the egg rolls: Carefully place the rolled egg rolls into the hot oil, frying a few at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry them for about 3-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Drain and serve: Use a slotted spoon to remove the egg rolls from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve the egg rolls hot with your choice of dipping sauce for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Ensure the oil temperature is maintained to avoid greasy or undercooked egg rolls.
- You can substitute crab meat with imitation crab or other seafood as preferred.
- For a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of chili flakes or sriracha to the filling mixture.
- These egg rolls can be made ahead and frozen before frying for convenient preparation later.
- Serve with sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or a vinegar-based dipping sauce for added flavor.
