Description

This Delicious Dorito Taco Salad Recipe is a crowd-pleaser, combining the flavors of a classic taco in a refreshing salad form. With a crunch from Doritos and a medley of fresh ingredients, it’s a satisfying meal perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Taco Meat:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade)
  • 1/2 cup water

For the Salad:

  • 8 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • 1 cup canned black beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 cup canned corn (drained)
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups nacho cheese Doritos (lightly crushed)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Taco Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned, about 5–6 minutes. Drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning and water, stirring to coat the meat. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Assemble the Salad: In a large salad bowl, combine romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, black beans, corn, red onion, and cheddar cheese. Add seasoned beef and lightly toss.
  3. Finish and Serve: Just before serving, add crushed Doritos, sour cream, and salsa. Toss gently to combine. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use baked tortilla chips and Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
  • This salad is best eaten fresh so the chips stay crunchy.
