Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough and Topping
- 1 lb. Frozen Bread Dough, thawed
- 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar (for sprinkling on top)
- 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
For the Icing
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 2 – 3 Tbsp Milk
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan for Baking: Lightly spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal of the bread.
- Thaw the Dough: Place the frozen bread dough in the prepared loaf pan and let it thaw uncovered for 4 to 7 hours until it softens and rises.
- Mix Sugar and Cinnamon: In a shallow dish, combine 1/2 cup sugar (note: original recipe splits sugar; here all sugar for coating) and 1 tablespoon cinnamon to create the cinnamon-sugar topping.
- Cut the Dough: Make 5 to 6 horizontal slits across the top of the thawed dough to help the flavors penetrate and create a pull-apart texture.
- Coat in Butter and Cinnamon Sugar: Brush the dough generously with melted unsalted butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the top to add sweet, spicy flavor.
- Top and Rise: Allow the dough to rise for an additional 30 minutes in a warm spot. Just before baking, sprinkle 1/4 cup brown sugar on top for extra sweetness and a caramelized crust.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s at the perfect temperature for baking the bread evenly.
- Bake: Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the bread is cooked through.
- Prepare the Icing: While the bread is still warm, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 to 3 tablespoons milk until smooth and pourable to make a sweet glaze.
- Finish and Serve: Drizzle the icing over the warm cinnamon bread. Pull apart the slices and enjoy immediately for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Make sure the bread dough is fully thawed to allow proper rising and baking.
- Use parchment paper for easier cleanup and preventing the bread from sticking.
- If you prefer a thicker icing, use less milk; for thinner glaze, add more milk gradually.
- This bread is best served warm but can be reheated gently before serving.
- Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 2 days.
