Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare muffin pan: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners or lightly grease.
- Prepare dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Combine wet ingredients: In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in sour cream and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gently fold in the dry ingredients until just combined, then fold in the chopped apples.
- Bake: Divide batter among muffin cups. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over muffins. Bake for 18–22 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and serve: Let muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
