This Easy Bow Tie Pasta Lasagna is a simple yet flavorful twist on classic lasagna, using bow tie pasta instead of traditional noodles. With layers of savory meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey cheese, this dish is sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta:

  • 12 oz bow tie (farfalle) pasta

Meat Sauce:

  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cheese Layer:

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Chopped fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook pasta: Cook the bow tie pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare meat sauce: Brown the ground beef and onion in a skillet. Add garlic, marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Combine ingredients: Mix cooked pasta with meat sauce and ricotta cheese. Layer half of the mixture in the baking dish, top with half of the cheeses. Repeat layering.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes until golden. Garnish with basil or parsley.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, omit the meat and add sautéed zucchini or mushrooms.
  • This dish freezes well—assemble ahead and bake when ready.
