Instructions

  1. Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat the egg with milk and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and whisk until smooth.
  3. Frying: Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F. Transfer the batter to a piping bag or squeeze bottle. Pipe 4- to 5-inch strips of batter into the hot oil, working in batches. Fry for 1–2 minutes per side or until golden brown and crisp.
  4. Serving: Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fries to a paper towel-lined plate. Dust generously with powdered sugar and serve warm.
