Dough:
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
Filling:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Frosting:
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (as needed for frosting consistency)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl: Combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add: Sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and 2 cups of flour. Mix until combined, then add remaining flour and knead until smooth.
- Cover: Let the dough rest for 20 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll: Roll out the dough into a 16×12-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter, sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mix, roll up tightly.
- Cut: Cut into 12 rolls, place in a baking dish. Let rise for 15 minutes.
- Bake: Bake for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
- Make frosting: Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
- Frost: Frost the warm rolls generously.
Notes
- To make ahead, prepare rolls through shaping and refrigerate overnight. Let come to room temperature and rise for 30 minutes before baking.
