Indulge in the perfect blend of savory and sweet with this Fig Glazed Skillet Chicken recipe. Tender chicken breasts seared to golden perfection, then smothered in a luscious fig-infused glaze that will tantalize your taste buds. A dish that’s easy to make yet impressively flavorful, this recipe is a must-try for any chicken lover!

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken:

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup fig preserves
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Garnish:

  • Fresh figs, halved (optional)
  • Fresh thyme sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Sear the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove chicken and set aside.
  3. Make the glaze: In the same skillet, add chicken broth, balsamic vinegar, fig preserves, honey, garlic, and thyme. Simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Finish the dish: Return chicken to the skillet, spoon glaze over the top, and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes until chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) internal temperature. Stir in butter to finish the sauce.
  5. Serve: Garnish with fresh figs and thyme sprigs if desired. Serve warm with your choice of sides.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add a splash of red wine to the glaze.
  • Bone-in chicken thighs can be used but will require longer cooking time.
  • If you prefer a lighter glaze, reduce the amount of honey slightly.
