Ingredients
Scale
Fish:
- 1 1/2 pounds white fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or halibut)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- juice of 1 lime
For serving:
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
- 2 cups shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- lime wedges
For the sauce:
- 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a skillet over medium heat. In a small bowl, combine olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and lime juice. Pat the fish dry and brush with the seasoning mixture on both sides.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or cook in the skillet for 3–4 minutes per side, until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily. Meanwhile, mix all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl until smooth.
- Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave. Break the cooked fish into chunks and assemble the tacos: layer fish, cabbage, and cilantro in each tortilla, then drizzle with the creamy sauce. Serve with lime wedges.
Notes
- Add avocado slices, pickled onions, or mango salsa for extra flavor.
- For a spicier version, increase the hot sauce in the sauce or sprinkle chili flakes on the fish.
