Ingredients
Scale
Sugar Syrup:
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup light corn syrup
- 2/3 cup water
Additional Ingredients:
- 1 packet unsweetened Kool-Aid (any flavor)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- Lollipop sticks
- Nonstick spray or parchment paper
Instructions
- Prepare Molds: Prepare lollipop molds or line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly spray with nonstick spray. Insert lollipop sticks into molds or place them on the parchment, spaced apart.
- Cook Sugar Syrup: In a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Once it begins to boil, stop stirring and let it cook until the temperature reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
- Add Flavor: Remove from heat immediately and stir in the Kool-Aid powder. Quickly whisk in the baking soda—it will fizz and bubble.
- Make Lollipops: Carefully pour the mixture into the prepared molds or over the ends of the sticks on the parchment. Allow to cool and harden completely, about 30 minutes, before removing and serving.
Notes
- Use caution when working with hot sugar syrup.
- For variety, try mixing flavors of Kool-Aid or adding edible glitter for a festive look.
- Store lollipops in an airtight container at room temperature with parchment between layers to prevent sticking.
