For the beef mixture:

- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste

- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup beef broth
For serving:
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
- butter for toasting buns (optional)
- fresh thyme for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Caramelize the onions: Heat olive oil in a skillet, add onions, and cook until golden and caramelized.
- Cook the beef: Brown ground beef in the same skillet, then add Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in beef broth and simmer.
- Assemble: Toast buns, spoon beef mixture onto the bottom bun, top with cheese, let it melt, and cover with the top bun. Serve hot garnished with thyme.
Notes
- For extra flavor, melt the cheese on top of the beef mixture in the skillet before assembling.
- You can also add a splash of red wine during caramelization for richness.
