For Caramelized Onions:

- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
For Casserole:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 cups cooked egg noodles
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Swiss or Gruyère cheese
- 1 cup crispy fried onions
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Caramelize Onions: Heat olive oil in a skillet. Cook onions until golden, then add garlic. Set aside.
- Prepare Casserole: Brown ground beef in the skillet. Add soup, sour cream, broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and caramelized onions. Season. Mix in noodles and half of the cheeses.
- Bake: Transfer to a baking dish. Top with remaining cheeses and fried onions. Bake until golden. Rest before serving.
