Ingredients
Scale
Bread
- 1 large round loaf sourdough or artisan bread
Garlic Herb Butter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Cheeses
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Finishing
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the bread.
- Slice the Bread: Using a sharp knife, cut the bread in a crosshatch pattern, making deep slices without cutting all the way through the bottom to keep the loaf intact.
- Prepare Garlic Herb Butter: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with minced garlic, chopped parsley, thyme leaves, rosemary, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Apply Butter Into Bread: Carefully brush or drizzle the garlic herb butter into all the cuts of the bread, ensuring the mixture seeps deep into the crevices for maximum flavor.
- Stuff the Cheese: Gently stuff shredded mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses into the cuts throughout the bread, distributing the cheeses evenly.
- Wrap and Bake: Loosely wrap the stuffed bread loaf in foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes to start melting the cheese.
- Unwrap and Finish Baking: Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the top is golden and slightly crisp.
- Serve: Optionally drizzle with olive oil and serve warm by pulling apart the bread pieces for a delightful gooey experience.
Notes
- Use a sturdy loaf like sourdough to hold the fillings well without collapsing.
- For added flavor, try incorporating cooked bacon bits or swapping in different cheeses such as provolone or gouda.
- Serve immediately for the best gooey, melty texture and taste.
