Description

These homemade Garlic Rolls are soft, fluffy dinner rolls brushed with a savory garlic butter mixture. Perfect as a side dish for any meal!

Ingredients

Scale

For the dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup warm milk

For the garlic butter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, olive oil, egg, and warm milk. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, arranging them closely together.
  7. Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. While the rolls are rising, prepare the garlic butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt.
  9. Once the rolls have risen, brush the garlic butter generously over the top of the dough balls.
  10. Bake the rolls for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Brush the rolls with more garlic butter after baking, if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • These rolls can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. To reheat, wrap in foil and warm in the oven.
  • For a cheesy twist, you can sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the rolls during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  • You can freeze the rolls after baking for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven before serving.
