  • 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Sauce:

  • 2 teaspoons garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (minced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (mixed with 1 tablespoon water)

For Garnish:

  • Sliced green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Coat chicken pieces in cornstarch, then dip in beaten egg.
  2. Fry the Chicken: Fry in batches until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Make the Sauce: Sauté garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Add soy sauce, vinegar, hoisin, sugar, and water. Thicken with cornstarch slurry.
  4. Combine and Glaze: Toss fried chicken in sauce until coated. Cook briefly until hot and glazed.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

  • Chicken breast can be used instead of thighs.
