Description

These Greek Chicken Meatballs with Homemade Tzatziki Sauce are a flavorful and healthy twist on classic meatballs. The juicy chicken meatballs are seasoned with Mediterranean herbs and served with a creamy cucumber yogurt sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or almond flour for gluten-free)
  • 1/4 cup red onion (finely minced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for cooking

Tzatziki Sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 large cucumber (grated and squeezed of excess moisture)
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, parsley, dill, oregano, lemon zest, lemon juice, egg, salt, and pepper. Shape into 16 meatballs.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs in batches for 8–10 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Make the Tzatziki Sauce: Combine Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, dill, salt, and olive oil. Chill until ready to serve.
  4. Serve: Serve meatballs with tzatziki sauce and pita or salad.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, bake the meatballs at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes instead of pan-frying.
  • The tzatziki can be made a day ahead for better flavor.
