Ingredients
Scale
Bread and Butter
- 6 slices white or sandwich bread
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Cheese Blend
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Seasonings
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Trim the crusts from the bread slices and cut each slice into four equal squares, creating mini bread squares perfect for bite-sized sandwiches.
- Butter the Bread: Spread a thin layer of softened unsalted butter on one side of each bread square, which will help achieve a golden, crispy exterior when cooked.
- Assemble the Bites: Place a small amount of shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese between two bread squares with the buttered sides facing outward to form mini sandwiches.
- Heat the Skillet: Preheat a large skillet over medium heat to prepare for grilling the cheese bites evenly.
- Cook the Sandwiches: Place the mini sandwiches into the skillet and grill for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese inside has melted thoroughly.
- Season and Serve: If desired, lightly sprinkle the grilled cheese bites with garlic powder, black pepper, and grated Parmesan cheese before removing from the skillet. Allow to cool slightly to set before serving.
Notes
- Perfect for dipping in tomato soup or marinara sauce for extra flavor.
- Add small pieces of cooked bacon or ham inside the bites for a heartier option.
- Use different cheese varieties to customize the flavor.
- Ensure bread squares are similar in size for even cooking.
- Butter the bread just before cooking to avoid sogginess.
