Description

Grilled Cheese Chaffles are a quick, low-carb, and delicious alternative to traditional grilled cheese sandwiches. Made primarily from eggs, cheese, and almond flour, these crispy waffles bring a cheesy, savory flavor with a satisfying crunch. Perfect for a keto-friendly breakfast, snack, or light meal, these chaffles are easy to prepare using a waffle maker and only take 20 minutes from start to finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Chaffle Batter

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For Cooking

  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat Waffle Maker: Preheat your waffle maker and spray it generously with non-stick cooking spray to ensure the chaffles do not stick during cooking.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, shredded cheese, almond flour, baking powder, and salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Pour Batter: Pour half of the prepared batter into the preheated waffle maker, spreading it evenly to cover the surface.
  4. Cook Chaffle: Close the waffle maker lid and cook the batter for 3 to 5 minutes until the chaffle is golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  5. Remove & Repeat: Carefully remove the cooked chaffle from the waffle maker. Re-spray the waffle maker as needed and repeat the process with the remaining batter to make the second chaffle.
  6. Optional Toppings: For an extra cheesy touch, add more cheese or your favorite toppings between the chaffle layers before cooking or serve with toppings after cooking.

Notes

  • You can use either cheddar or mozzarella cheese depending on your flavor preference.
  • Make sure the waffle maker is well preheated for best crispiness.
  • Be careful when removing chaffles to avoid breaking them as they can be delicate when hot.
  • Feel free to add spices like garlic powder or herbs for extra flavor.
  • Chaffles can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated in a toaster or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
