Description

Delicious and healthy chocolate chip cookies made with almond or whole wheat flour, sweetened naturally with honey or maple syrup, and baked to golden perfection. These cookies offer a wholesome treat with a balance of nutritious ingredients and indulgent dark chocolate chips.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour or whole wheat flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ¼ cup coconut oil or melted butter
  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Add-ins

  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the cookies.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the almond or whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: In a separate large bowl, mix the melted coconut oil or butter, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and the large egg until smooth and well incorporated.
  4. Combine wet and dry: Add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to maintain a tender texture. Fold in the dark chocolate chips evenly.
  5. Form cookies: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each cookie slightly with the back of a spoon for even baking.
  6. Bake: Bake the cookies for 8–10 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown, indicating they are cooked through.
  7. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • You can substitute almond flour with whole wheat flour based on preference or availability.
  • Honey and maple syrup are interchangeable natural sweeteners in this recipe.
  • Be careful not to overbake to keep cookies soft and chewy.
  • For a vegan version, replace the egg with a flax egg and use coconut oil instead of butter.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
