Description

Indulge in a decadent and flavorful Herb Butter Beef Tenderloin that is perfect for special occasions and holiday dinners. This tender and juicy roast is seasoned with a fragrant herb butter mixture and roasted to perfection, making it a show-stopping main course.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Tenderloin:

  • 1 whole beef tenderloin (about 4–5 pounds), trimmed and tied

Herb Butter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Other:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Prepare the Beef: Pat the beef tenderloin dry with paper towels and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  3. Make Herb Butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with garlic, rosemary, thyme, parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Rub Herb Butter: Rub the herb butter evenly over the entire surface of the tenderloin.
  5. Sear the Beef: Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet or roasting pan over medium-high heat. Sear the tenderloin on all sides until browned, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  6. Roast: Transfer the skillet to the oven and roast for 25–35 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads 130°F for medium-rare.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the tenderloin rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use any leftover herb butter on vegetables or bread.
  • Adjust cook time based on desired doneness—135°F for medium, 145°F for medium-well.
