Noodles:
- 8 ounces lo mein or spaghetti noodles
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
Beef:
- 1 pound flank steak or sirloin (thinly sliced against the grain)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Vegetables:
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (minced)
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 red bell pepper (thinly sliced)
Sauce:
- 1/3 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional)
Garnish:
- sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the noodles: Cook noodles according to package directions, drain, rinse, and toss with sesame oil.
- Prepare the beef: Toss sliced beef with cornstarch. Cook in a skillet until browned; set aside.
- Stir-fry: Cook garlic, ginger, broccoli, and bell pepper. Make sauce with hoisin, soy sauce, vinegar, honey, and red pepper. Add noodles, beef, and sauce to skillet; toss to combine.
- Garnish: Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute the beef with chicken, tofu, or shrimp.
- Add water chestnuts or snap peas for extra crunch.
- For a saucier dish, double the sauce.
