Instructions

  2. Mix Ingredients: Add the salt and oil, then stir in the flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Rise the Dough: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape and Bake: Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, place in a greased loaf pan, let rise for 30 minutes, then bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Cool and Enjoy: Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For whole wheat bread, substitute up to 2 cups of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
