Description

These Homemade Cheesy Breadsticks are a quick and delicious appetizer or snack made with pizza dough, buttery garlic flavor, and a delightful blend of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Perfectly baked until golden and bubbly, they’re great served warm with marinara sauce or garlic butter for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

Topping

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Optional Dipping Sauces

  • Marinara sauce
  • Garlic butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle or circle about ¼-inch thick and place it on the baking sheet.
  2. Season the Dough: Brush the melted unsalted butter evenly over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of garlic powder evenly on top to infuse the breadsticks with garlic flavor.
  3. Add the Cheese and Seasoning: Spread 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese and ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the buttered dough. Finish by sprinkling 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning over the cheese for an herby touch.
  4. Bake: Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges of the dough turn golden brown and the cheese melts completely and becomes bubbly.
  5. Slice and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the cheesy breadsticks to cool for 2 to 3 minutes. Slice into strips and serve warm with marinara sauce or garlic butter for dipping, enhancing each bite with extra flavor.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought or homemade pizza dough depending on your preference and time availability.
  • For extra garlic flavor, add minced fresh garlic to the melted butter before brushing it onto the dough.
  • Feel free to switch cheeses or add toppings like chopped herbs or crushed red pepper for variety.
  • Make sure not to over-bake; the breadsticks should be golden and the cheese bubbling but not browned or burned.
  • These breadsticks are best eaten fresh but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes to restore crispness.
