Description

Ingredients

Shortbread Layer:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Caramel Layer:

  • 15 soft caramels, unwrapped
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Chocolate Layer:

  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Make Shortbread Base: Mix flour, sugar, butter, and salt until a soft dough forms. Press into the pan and bake for 15-18 minutes.
  3. Prepare Caramel: Melt caramels and cream, then pour over the cooled shortbread. Chill to set.
  4. Melt Chocolate: Melt chocolate chips and oil, pour over caramel, and chill until firm.
  5. Cut and Serve: Cut into squares and store in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • For a salted caramel twist, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top before the chocolate sets.
  • You can use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate if preferred.
