A refreshing and easy-to-make oat milk iced latte featuring freshly brewed espresso, lightly sweetened with brown sugar, and served over ice. This non-dairy iced coffee is perfect for a cool pick-me-up with optional warm spice garnishes like cinnamon or nutmeg.
Ingredients
Scale
Espresso Mixture
- 2 oz (60 ml) espresso, brewed fresh
- 2 teaspoons (8 g) brown sugar
Milk and Garnish
- Oat milk, unsweetened, enough to fill glass ¾ full
- Ice cubes, as needed
- Cinnamon, for garnish (optional)
- Nutmeg, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Brew Espresso: Start by brewing a double shot of espresso using your espresso machine. Aim for a rich, bold espresso preferably with crema on top for the best flavor and texture.
- Sweeten Espresso: Add two teaspoons of brown sugar directly into the hot espresso. Stir thoroughly until the sugar completely dissolves to avoid any gritty texture.
- Prepare Glass: Take a tall glass or jar and fill it with ice cubes up to three-quarters full. This provides enough room for the oat milk and espresso without overflowing.
- Shake Oat Milk: Shake the oat milk carton briskly for 3-5 seconds to mix the contents evenly without creating froth.
- Add Oat Milk: Pour the oat milk carefully over the ice in the glass, filling it about three-quarters full.
- Layer Espresso: Slowly pour the sweetened espresso over the oat milk and ice to maintain distinct layers within the glass for a visually appealing presentation.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg over the latte if desired for an aromatic twist. Insert a reusable straw and serve immediately to enjoy your iced oat milk latte at its freshest.
Notes
- Use freshly brewed espresso for the best flavor and crema.
- Optionally adjust the sweetness by changing the amount of brown sugar to your preference.
- Shaking the oat milk gently prevents frothing, which keeps the drink smooth and layered.
- Adding the espresso slowly helps retain the layered look.
- Use a reusable straw for an eco-friendly touch.
- Can substitute with regular milk or other plant-based milks if preferred, but oat milk provides a naturally creamy texture.
