Ingredients
Scale
Salad
- 3 cups freshly chopped Romaine lettuce
- 2 ounces sliced turkey
- 1/2 ounce sliced salami
- 1/2 ounce sliced provolone cheese
- 1 Tablespoon banana peppers
- 1 Tablespoon sliced black olives
- 6 cherry tomato halves
- 1 ounce prepared Italian dressing (from recipe below)
Homemade Italian Vinaigrette Dressing
- 1 packet Good Seasonings Italian Dressing mix
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Tablespoons white vinegar
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Assemble the Salad: Place the chopped Romaine lettuce into a medium-sized bowl. Evenly layer the sliced turkey, salami, provolone cheese, banana peppers, black olives, and cherry tomato halves on top of the lettuce. Drizzle approximately one ounce of the prepared Italian dressing over the salad just before serving and toss lightly if desired.
- Prepare the Italian Vinaigrette: In a small bowl, combine the Good Seasonings Italian Dressing packet with the olive oil, white vinegar, and water as instructed on the packet. Whisk thoroughly until well blended.
- Add Seasonings to Dressing: To the prepared dressing, add dried Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, granulated sugar, and garlic powder. Whisk again vigorously to fully incorporate all the ingredients. The dressing can be used immediately or refrigerated for a few hours to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- This salad is best served fresh but can be chilled for an hour to enhance the blended flavors of the dressing.
- You can substitute turkey with ham or chicken if preferred.
- For a low-fat option, use reduced-fat provolone and turkey breast; reduce or omit the olive oil in the dressing accordingly.
- Adjust the quantity of banana peppers and olives to suit your spice and salt preferences.
- Use freshly ground black pepper for the best flavor impact.
