Description

This Maple Glazed Chicken recipe features tender, juicy chicken breasts cooked to perfection and coated with a sweet and tangy maple syrup glaze. A quick and easy skillet meal that combines simple ingredients like garlic, ginger, and lemon juice for a flavorful dinner ready in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 16 ounces boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 large breasts), sliced in half lengthwise
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Maple Glaze

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry and season evenly with salt and black pepper on both sides to prepare for cooking.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook until golden brown on both sides and fully cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), approximately 5-6 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Maple Glaze: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Then combine maple syrup, lemon juice, cornstarch, minced garlic, ground ginger, and water. Whisk constantly to dissolve the cornstarch and cook the sauce until it thickens slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Glaze the Chicken: Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet with the maple glaze. Toss the chicken gently in the sauce to coat thoroughly and warm through for about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Serve: Remove the glazed chicken from the skillet and serve immediately while hot, pairing well with steamed vegetables or rice.

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  • For a thicker glaze, let the sauce simmer a bit longer before adding the chicken back.
  • Use pure maple syrup for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • Feel free to add fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary to the glaze for added aroma.
