Description

This Marinated Tofu recipe is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed as a main course or added to stir-fries. The tofu is marinated in a flavorful blend of soy sauce, rice vinegar, and aromatic spices, then pan-seared until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Ingredients:

  • 14 oz extra-firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Drain and Press Tofu: Drain and press the tofu for at least 20 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Prepare Marinade: Whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, maple syrup, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Marinate Tofu: Add tofu cubes to the marinade, toss to coat. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Cook Tofu: Heat olive oil in a skillet, cook tofu on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve: Enjoy warm as a main dish or in various meal preparations.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate tofu overnight.
  • You can also bake the marinated tofu at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
