  • 8 ounces lo mein or spaghetti noodles
  • Beef:

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • Sauce:

  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Garnish:

  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook Noodles: Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Add garlic and ginger; sauté until fragrant.
  3. Make Sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch slurry. Pour into skillet, simmer until thickened.
  4. Combine: Add cooked noodles to the skillet, toss to combine. Stir in red pepper flakes. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
