Instructions
- Assemble Sandwiches: Layer ham, turkey, Swiss cheese, and cheddar cheese if using, between two slices of bread to create four sandwiches.
- Prepare Egg Mixture: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Heat Skillet: Place a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt and coat the surface evenly.
- Dip Sandwiches: Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated but not soggy.
- Cook Sandwiches: Place the dipped sandwiches in the hot skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
- Keep Warm: Remove cooked sandwiches from the skillet and keep them warm while you cook the remaining sandwiches, adding more butter as needed for frying.
- Serve: Lightly dust the cooked sandwiches with powdered sugar and serve them with raspberry or strawberry jam on the side for dipping.
Notes
- For a crispier sandwich, cook on medium-low heat and allow the sandwich to cook slowly, improving texture without burning.
- You can opt to bake the sandwiches in an oven preheated to 375°F for 10 to 12 minutes if you prefer baking over frying.
- These sandwiches make a decadent breakfast, brunch, or lunch option.
