Ingredients
Scale
Meatballs
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 large egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Barbecue Sauce Glaze
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s properly heated for baking the meatballs evenly.
- Mix the meatball ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated to create a uniform mixture.
- Form the meatballs: Using your hands, shape the mixture into approximately one-inch diameter meatballs. Place each meatball on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the barbecue sauce glaze: In a separate bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth. Set aside half of this sauce mixture for glazing the meatballs later.
- Bake the meatballs: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the meatballs for about 25 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C), ensuring they are fully cooked inside.
- Glaze and finish baking: Remove the meatballs from the oven and brush the reserved barbecue sauce generously over each meatball. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes to allow the sauce to caramelize and enhance the flavor.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add smoked paprika or chili flakes to the meat mixture.
- Make sure to check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer for food safety.
- Leftover meatballs can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for future meals.
- Serve with extra BBQ sauce or alongside mashed potatoes or salad for a complete meal.
