Ingredients
- 2/3 cup peanut butter
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 cups Cheerio cereal
Instructions
- Prepare the Dish: Line an 8×8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper or grease it to prevent sticking. Set aside.
- Melt Peanut Butter and Honey: In a large, microwave-safe bowl, combine peanut butter and honey. Microwave for 30 seconds, stirring every 15 seconds until the mixture is warm and easy to stir smoothly.
- Coat Cereal: Add the Cheerios to the peanut butter and honey mixture. Using a rubber spatula, gently toss and stir until all cereal pieces are evenly coated with the sticky mixture.
- Press Into Pan: Transfer the coated cereal mixture into the prepared baking dish. Press down firmly to pack the mixture tightly and create an even layer.
- Freeze: Cover the cereal mixture with plastic wrap and press down again to ensure it’s compact. Place the dish in the freezer for 30 minutes to set.
- Cut and Serve: Remove from freezer, lift the set mixture out using the parchment paper, and cut into bars. Store the bars in the refrigerator to keep them firm and fresh.
Notes
- For easier cutting, make sure bars are well chilled before slicing.
- Use smooth peanut butter for best coating and texture.
- You can substitute honey with maple syrup for a vegan alternative.
- Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Add-ins like chocolate chips or dried fruit can be mixed in for extra flavor.
