This Pineapple Habanero Hot Sauce recipe combines the sweetness of fresh pineapple with the heat of habanero peppers to create a spicy, tropical condiment that is perfect for adding flavor to a variety of dishes.
Ingredients
Fresh Pineapple:
2 cups chopped
Habanero Peppers:
4–5 stemmed and seeded
White Vinegar:
1/2 cup
Water:
1/2 cup
Yellow Onion:
1 small, chopped
Garlic Cloves:
3 minced
Lime Juice:
1 tablespoon
Honey:
1 tablespoon
Salt:
1/2 teaspoon
Olive Oil:
1 tablespoon
Instructions
- Heat Olive Oil: In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Cook Onion: Add chopped onion and cook until softened.
- Add Ingredients: Stir in garlic, pineapple, habanero peppers, vinegar, water, salt, and honey.
- Simmer: Bring to a simmer and cook until pineapple is soft.
- Blend: Remove from heat, let cool, then blend until smooth, adding lime juice.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste and adjust salt or sweetness as needed.
- Store: Pour into sterilized bottles or jars, refrigerate, and let sit for at least 24 hours before using.
Notes
- For a milder sauce, use fewer habaneros or remove all seeds and membranes.
- This sauce keeps in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Great on tacos, grilled meats, or eggs.
