Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare dish: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
  2. Mix batter: In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice. Add pumpkin purée, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Stir until just combined and spread in baking dish.
  3. Prepare topping: In a small bowl, mix pecans, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Sprinkle over batter.
  4. Add hot water: Slowly pour hot water over the top without stirring.
